APT WEALTH ADVISORY:The Moment of Maximum Hopelessness:If you are like most investors, you are probably wondering what to do with your money right now. Sell short? Buy fertilizer stocks? Or stuff your money under the mattress until the trouble pass. We’ve a better idea,We’ve a few answers. They are not good answers, but they are honest, which is the only good quality for this kind of post-mortem.First we recognize that there is no one best way for investing in stocks,my friends and I refused to get out of our hot stocks both in the banking and other sectors, because they had made us so much money on the way up…..at least on paper. The emotional charge that comes from watching an account balance grow (really fast!) doesn’t just go away. You don’t want to give up on those investments.
Secondly, we think we may be right to say ultimately,if the world economic and financial crises coupled with the current developments in the domestic financial scene is anything to go by, that what drives the market the fastest is bad news and good news from news sources.Lots of investors hit the sell button at the point bad news hits,as witnessed recently in the price movements of the troubled banks( Oceanic,Intercontinental,Fin bank,Afribank,Platinum etc)for instance, even during the bear stern crises,Oceanic bank was trading within the price range of N6-N10 by May to July last year, immediately after the CBN August Bank Tsunami Oceanic was on a free fall to N1.88 by Friday 6th 2009, and they kept hitting it every time more bad news confirmed how bad the situation was.
His exact words were that the Nigerian stock market is finished. But history has proven them wrong the only difference is traceable in the magnitude of the calamity:“The market is never wrong but opinions are” Jesse L. Livermore. The moment of maximum hopelessness marks the start of the next bull market.
